Maria B. Villavicencio
Biography
Maria is a dual-licensed attorney admitted to practice in New York and Ecuador, with more than four years of U.S. legal experience and a diverse background spanning commercial litigation, real estate disputes, insurance coverage, corporate matters, and cross-border transactions.
Maria's practice focuses on complex commercial, real estate, and business litigation in New York state and federal courts. She represents businesses, property owners, lenders, investors, and other commercial clients in disputes involving real estate ownership and control, UCC foreclosures, lender liability, joint ventures and LLC governance, fraudulent conveyance claims, breach of contract, creditors' rights, and related business torts. She also advises clients on insurance coverage matters, including policy interpretation, coverage disputes, risk assessment, and settlement strategy.
Maria regularly handles all phases of litigation, including substantive motion practice, discovery, court appearances, injunction applications, and case strategy in high-stakes and multi-party disputes. She works closely with clients to navigate complex contractual relationships, protect valuable assets, enforce ownership and financial rights, and resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.
Earlier in her career, Maria advised U.S. and Latin American clients on corporate and cross-border matters, including entity formation, corporate governance, shareholder agreements, and commercial contracts. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she brings an international perspective to matters involving businesses, investors, and clients with cross-border interests.
