Biography
Kelly provides coverage counseling to underwriters, brokers and policyholders. Her insurance coverage experience includes working at a AmLaw 200 Firm where she managed a caseload of more than 100 files, and a prior position in the employment practices liability claims department at one of the largest property and casualty insurance companies in the world.
Kelly has extensive experience drafting reservation of rights letters, in which she determines whether the insurer’s duty to defend is triggered, allocates for covered and uncovered loss, and evaluates whether failure to provide timely notice of claims precludes coverage under claims-made and reported policies.
Kelly’s practice includes coverage evaluation and advocating for favorable resolutions of EEOC charges and civil actions. These lawsuits and administrative complaints involve a wide range of claims for violations of state and federal employment laws, including discrimination allegations, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and retaliation claims. Kelly also engages in complex coverage evaluation for claims against their insureds involving dozens of practice areas. She also has extensive experience handling bar complaints, the resolution of which directly impacts the reputation and livelihood of her clients’ insureds. Further, Kelly specializes in risk management consultation and excess coverage monitoring and risk assessments in class action lawsuits, advising excess carriers of potential liability and damages.
Kelly graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law. During her time in law school, she externed for the State of Connecticut, Department of State Ethics and interned at the Office of the Attorney General’s Employment Rights Department, where she honed her research and writing skills on Enforcement Actions and legal research on emergent employment issues in the area of cannabis use at the workplace.
In Kelly’s free time, she enjoys baking sweet treats and bike riding with her family.
