Caroline Booth

Law Clerk

Biography

Caroline focuses her practice on complex commercial general liability defense, including multi-party, high-exposure litigation involving primary and excess insurance coverage across both direct and third-party claims. Caroline’s experience spans a broad array of matters— including alleged premises liability, Labor Law violations, negligent supervision, property damage, and motor vehicle accidents— wherein she represents property owners, general contractors, employers, third-party contractors, and recreational and instructional facilities.

Prior to joining the firm, Caroline worked as an associate at an insurance defense firm in New York City’s financial district, where she conducted complex construction contract and insurance policy review. She regularly analyzed municipal, state, and federal building codes, statutes, and amendments, as well as indemnity and insurance procurement provisions, evaluating liability and damages in correspondence with clients and insurers.

Caroline brings a proactive and investigative approach to cases and is passionate about minimizing or eliminating client’s liability exposure, and, where appropriate, transferring risk early in the litigation process. In addition to her general liability work, she has experience in insurance coverage analysis and federal declaratory judgment actions. Her efforts have contributed to successful tenders, third-party declaratory judgment claims, and dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss.

Caroline has been involved in all aspects of litigation, from inception through arbitration and appeal. She has played a key role in the development of case strategy and the determination of figures for settlement and trial, in consideration of cases’ unique litigation history and other parties’ involvement, and in coordination with insurers.

She holds a B.A. in Economics and International Political Economy from Fordham University, where she was one of forty students selected for the university’s Honors Program—a community of scholars for justice. Thereafter, Caroline taught English in Thailand for a year, designing and delivering culturally immersive coursework in reading, writing, math, and science while contributing to local economic development. Caroline then earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law on a full-tuition Dean’s Award scholarship for academic excellence.

Outside the office, Caroline embraces a love for nature and adventure. She has summitted Mount Whitney with her family, is SCUBA certified and conducted coral research in Bermuda, and is an active member of a local running club. She is fluent in French and previously lived in France, where she interviewed the mayor of Calais ahead of Brexit negotiations. In her free time, she enjoys running, camping, sailing, and visiting and attending museums, concerts, and shows with friends.
