Biography

Kristin’s practice is primarily focused on New York State and Federal litigation in the courts of New York. The main focus of her legal practice is primarily civil litigation, including medical malpractice, premise liability, labor law,  motor vehicle accidents, construction accidents, property damage, general liability defense, municipal law and federal litigation. She has represented clients including insurance carriers, healthcare providers, hospitals, community health care centers and municipalities in arbitrations, mediations, hearings and trials. She is involved in all aspects of civil litigation from the inception of the suit through discovery proceedings and through to verdict and even to appeal.   She has briefed appeals in both the Second Department and the Appellate Term.

Prior to pursuing a career in private practice, Kristin was an Assistant Town Attorney for the largest municipality in Long Island. Through her time there, she has gained extensive knowledge as to municipal law and land use and zoning. Kristin is also well versed in all phases of contract negotiations, including complex commercial transactions and any disputes which may arise from leases, mortgages, land use and zoning applications and construction projects. She has an experienced background in all aspects of land use and zoning for both commercial and residential properties, including commercial land use applications and subdivisions.

She offers a multifaceted and well-rounded background in order to assist in a wide range of diverse cases while still maintaining expertise in complex litigation.  Kristin recognizes the importance of developing a professional and meaningful relationship with all of her clients.  She is sensitive to the needs of controlling costs and limiting exposure as early as possible in the case in order to reduce the hefty costs of litigation, if applicable.  On the other hand, she is ready to defend a matter through to trial and has numerous successful verdicts in the State Courts.  Through her years of experience as a litigation attorney, Kristin has gained an appreciation for the nuances of claim evaluation and analysis at an early stage which helps to work alongside her client in order to identify cases for early resolution or those which are ripe for zealous defense through trial.

Outside of the courtroom, Kristin is an avid equestrian with a passion and love for her rescue animals. As a lifelong resident of Long Island, she has sat on the board of numerous not for profit organizations, including a 9/11 firefighter organization that has fought to ensure families of those who risked their lives in 9/11 recovery are afforded adequate health care and an animal welfare organization that fights for more stringent animal abuse laws and punishment.  She enjoys “off time” with her family, riding horses, going to the beach, and playing with her 4 rescue dogs.
