Multi-office, multi-state law firm seeks an associate attorney in its Garden City, New York office. Candidate should have 2-5 years’ experience in defense litigation, at least 2 years of experience with New York State Labor Law litigation and experience with coverage disputes.
This position requires a high level of motivation, flexibility, initiative, and ability to manage a litigation caseload from beginning to end. The ideal candidate should have experience in insurance defense matters, as well as labor law litigation, including New York Labor Law §200, §240 and §241(6), ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong and professional communication skills, and be friendly and outgoing. While the candidate will work primarily in the firm’s Garden City location, he or she will also interact and work on matters across the firm’s footprint. Ability to handle assigned caseload both independently and with supervision
Drafting of pleadings, motions, discovery demands, etc.
Experience with depositions, court appearances and motion practice
Perform extensive research
Maintain an excellent relationship with clients, including complying with all client guidelines
Ensure all deadlines are met
Accurately record and maintain billable hours
Exceptional writing, research and analytical skills. The ideal candidate must take pride in delivering error free product.
Admitted to practice in the State of New York (PA, NJ and/or CT admission is a plus)
Federal Court experience is a plus
2-5 years’ experience in defense litigation
2 years’ experience of labor law litigation, including, but not limited to, extensive knowledge and understanding of the New York State Labor Law and Industrial Codes Rules

For New York City Applicants: Salary range: $35.00 – $70.00/hr., plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The anticipated salary range is for candidates who will work in New York City. The salary offered to a successful candidate will depend upon the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
